Coronavirus guidelines for moving home

I hope you’re all keeping well during these tough times. You may have heard that from 13th May 2020, the government have given estate agent’s permission to return to work, and homeowners and buyers the ability to move home during the pandemic.

Safety is of course my top priority, so I’ve put in place some key measures that are each inline with the government advice to moving during the coronavirus outbreak.

Booking a viewing, valuation or office visit

When you call to book a viewing, valuation or office visit, you’ll be asked If you or anyone you live with are showing symptoms or if you’ve been asked to self-isolate. Unfortunately I wont be able to meet you if you have or have had symptoms within the past 14 days.

Visiting our office

If you didn’t already know, my office is in the Abshot country club. Obviously the club itself has been shut and will continue to be until the governments restrictions on gyms have been eased.

I will now however be at the club and in my office from 14th May 2020 onwards.  This means that I will be available for face to face meetings but strictly by prior appointment and subject to the rules set out in booking a viewing. My office is only small, and its just me that works from it however it is perfectly possible to keep a 2 meter distance.

I strongly advise clients to view our properties virtually in the first instance. I have video walk throughs of all of my available homes that I can send you via email or WhatsApp. So I’m urging you to only physically view properties that you have a strong interest in.

We will only accompany physical viewings where we can maintain a 2 meter distance.
Before a viewing I will be ensuring that all door handles and surfaces within the property have been fully wiped down with ant bacterial spray before anyone enters. You’ll then be provided with hand sanitiser as you enter the property. During the viewing  I will be wearing a face covering and would urge you to do the same if possible.  Please reframe from opening and closing doors and cupboards as I will do this for you.

Please note that a maximum of two adults will be allowed in the house, no children under the age of 16 will be permitted to enter the property. Once the vewing has been completed I will wipe down all internal and external handles and surfices with anti bacterial wipes and sprays.

Valuations will need to be pre-booked and will only be carried out if nobody in the household has symptoms and has not self isolating or being shielded. I will arrive wearing a facemask and shoe coverings, and make sure to keep a 2 meter distance at all times. I will also have sanitised my hands once I enter the property.

Further notes

Should you book an appointment with and subsequently you, someone in your household, or anyone you’ve been in recent contact with begin to experience symptoms, then your appointment will need to be postponed until further notice.

Equally, if I, anyone in my household or anyone I have been in recent contact with becomes ill then I will let you know at the earliest opportunity.

Kindest Regards

Jack Jowett
